Seriously?

Yesterday I brought the kids the park in the afternoon, just to get some much needed energy out. I meant to write about this yesterday, but I ran out brain power.

There was this group of moms there, and by group, I mean like a HUGE group of moms there that seemed clueless to the idea of actually supervising your children. This is a huge pet peave of mine, it just drives me crazy. People go to places with their kids and let them run free and don't supervise, and I just want to tell them, hello! This is NOT a daycare center!

So many times I have seen kids getting hurt, and their parents are clueless as to what happened. Uh gee well if you actually watched your kids, you would probably know. I mean, it's different if the kids are older, but I am talking about little kids.

There was a boy there, who looked to be about 18 months old, wandering around. He wasn't walking well, and he was all over the equipment, which at times there are openings and then a 5 foot dropoff. He even got stuck on one and I had to go over and help him down. I mean, wasn't his mother able to hear his fearful crying because he probably thought he was going to fall off and hurt himself. She thanked me for helping him, but I really wanted to be like "No problem lady, but it's not my job to babysit your child so he doesn't hurt himself." But I just nodded and smiled. I mean, in the long run, it's just not worth it to get into it with a mother who obviously is already clueless. Life is too short to fight a losing battle. I would rather make peace with it within myself, and move on.

But then, these girls had a dog all over the equipment. It was a small dog, and they were yanking her around like she was a ragdoll. Again, no parental involvement. At this point, I was like let's get out of here. Just goes to show you that just because you have the ability to have children (and pets), it doesn't automatically mean you are a good parent.

Sounds awful! Then you get the moms who hold their 8-year-olds hands on the equipment and push 'em on the swings! Isn't there and happy middle?
