July 4th is my favorite holiday, and especially since it was Ryan's due date, it really holds something extra special for me. I was really excited about the fireworks and was really hoping Ryan would enjoy them too.
On the 3rd, we usually go to the Portsmouth fireworks as part of also celebrating Sean's dads birthday, but this year with all the rain they postponed it to Sunday night. We were bummed, so Sean's dad decided to set off some little fireworks in the backyard. I hear they were pretty awesome, but Ryan was not a fan, and neither was Guinness. I stayed inside watching Shrek with Ryan on my lap and Guinness up on the couch stuck to my side. Poor boys!
On the actual 4th, Sean and I had a different sort of date night and we went on a cruise with Nico and Ellie, and their mom and family. It was a wonderful evening, so beautiful! We ancored right in front of Hampton Beach where the fireworks were put off, and it was just wonderful! We didn't bring Ryan because we weren't sure how he would do on the boat yet, but I think we could take him next year. We had a great time, until we tried to go home and it took us 3 hours! It was terrible traffic! Oy! Next year if we go, Sean thinks we should drive to Mass and then go up 95 that way. I am up for anything as long as we aren't idling forever going maybe a car length every 15 minutes.

Ryan and Nana went to see the Dover Fireworks from a distance, and they stayed in the car, and apparently Ryan liked those ones. I am thinking he is scared of the noise, it is pretty loud, especially if you are just a little guy.
Tonight we went to the Portsmouth fireworks, and it was of course the best show. Just love Portsmouths' display, every year it is just so great!

Ryan was having a great time until the fireworks actually started, and then he cried and cried. Sean and I took turns covering his ears hoping it would help, but eventually he calmed down when he covered his head and body with his blankie and laid down. Poor guy. I hope he likes it better next year!

Sydney had to sleep with us on the 4th because of the sound of firecrackers in the neighborhood...Anyway those pics are gorgeous and keep posting!
