I got Ryan to sleep last night pretty easily at around 9pm. Sean and I played some games together for a while and then decided we were both exhausted so we went to bed at about 1 am. We hadn't heard a peep out of Ryan, so we thought, yay a good night in bed!
I woke up at 3:30 with a little monkey climbing into our bed and talking to me. The strange thing was when I turned on the little light on my nightstand, Ryan was sleeping already. He was so darn cute, sleeping there in between mommy and daddy.
I decided, well, if I don't move him back to his bed, he will always come into our bed. So I woke him up, got him into bed and proceded to try to get him to sleep for 2 hours. Finally, I told him mommy was tired and was going to bed and he needs to sleep too. Cue the tears and the drama that mommy was leaving, which woke up Sean.
Finally, we put the gate up in the door of his room (which we of course forgot to do before we went to bed, hence Ryan getting into our bed) and Ryan fell asleep around 6 and we went to bed again too. At least he let us sleep until 11!
I figure either he sleeps too much at nap times, or he was scared and needed to be with us. I don't really know what the right answer is though. I am still new at all of this, and when you are so tired anyway, it is harder to deal with when your son will not sleep in the middle of the night. Oh well, whats a mother to do.
Today we will take him to the Children's Museum, and since it is so late in the day, I am not even going to bother with a nap. Hopefully my little man can sleep tonight since tomorrow is Easter and we have two dinners to attend.

I hope all is going better for for you and your sleep. If I didn't have as much patience and always just let the kids stay in bed with me if it was the middle of the night. He'll grow out if it! Don't be too hard on yourselves meanwhile.
