We had been talking about switching Ryan over to a toddler bed for a while, but since he started crawling out of his bed on a regular basis (usually with a loud thud followed by tears) we decided to get him one this weekend.
We did a bit of running around on Saturday looking around at toddler beds at Toys R Us, Wal-Mart and Target. We finally settled on one we saw at Wal-Mart, it was cute and who can beat $55! So we got it, and headed home.
Ryan slept with us Saturday night because he had fallen and hit his head and we wanted to make sure he was ok. So we were watching Shrek 3 in bed (another one of Ryan's favorite characters), and Ryan fell asleep. Fortunately, Ryan slept great! Unfortunately for us, we did not. I have got to have one of the wiggliest children ever when he sleeps.
Sean had a great time on Sunday assembling it, he loves that kind of stuff. Ryan helped him by stepping on the box and I helped by making coffee :) Ryan thought that it was pretty great, but did seem a little confused why we were breaking down the crib...
Naps did not happen on Sunday while we were home. He has been fighting them lately. So we went to a birthday party for a family member and Ryan ended up falling asleep on the floor there. Oops! He slept for a good couple hours on the floor, poor little guy.
By the time the night rolled around, I was so tired my head was killing me so I went and laid down and Sean put Ryan to bed. He was such a good daddy, he read Ryan his night time stories, put him to bed and sat in his room for just over an hour while he helped Ryan learn that it was night time and he had to indeed stay in his bed.
Today at nap time, Ryan did much better. I was only in there for about 30 minutes when Ryan fell asleep and I only had to put him back to bed 6 times! Wooohoo! Tonight also went well, so I am really glad he seems to love his bed!

He looks very happy in his new bed and in the long run you will all sleep better knowing that you won't be hearing the big thud in the middle of the night. we put Sydney in her bed at around 14 months and she's still in it.. not in too much of a hurry to move on! Good luck with the bed!
