New shoes, again

Man it seems like we were JUST at Red's Shoe Barn last month buying Ryan some new shoes. I went there originally because I had wanted to get him some sandals with all the warm weather coming. This boy gets such sweaty feet when it is warm out, it's incredible. After finding someone to measure his foot (finally.... you would have thought they were bothered to have to actually work today) we found out he needed new sneakers too. He has a size 8 foot, which is amazing to me. I put his shoe up in comparison to mine, and they are already more than half the size of my foot! This boy is going to be tall!!

So I tried some Crocs on him, but the top of his foot was too big to fit inside the shoes that were his actual size. I looked and looked for what felt like an eternity, meanwhile Ryan is melting down because he wasn't allowed to play in the stairs. One staffperson was incredibly NOT helpful, and it was very irritating.

She comes up to me looking at the sandals and asks if she can help me with anything. So I told her that I needed sandals and the Crocs didn't work for Ryan. So she does a Vanna White impression and motions at the wall of sandals I was already at and goes, "Here are a bunch....."

I was like hmmm, no... really?? I had to actually ask her if she had any that she could recommend, and she was like ummmm Tiva's. Which, PS she also measured Ryan's foot and said he was a 9....

We tried the Tiva's and they were pretty terrible looking as well as on him, so we were like no way. I went over and looked at sneakers because at the very least he needed new shoes. I found some and asked her if they had his size. She went back and brought a 9.5! I was like, that is so not going to fit him, to which she replied, "Oh well I think there was a 8.5 do you want me to get that too?" I swear, maybe it was this woman's first day, but really, terrible service.

Finally she brings me the two boxes and we try the 8.5. By "we" I mean, Sean and I because the woman didn't even stay with us to see if they fit him. I put the shoes on, and Ryan was pulling at them and seemed to hate them. I had him walk around. Meanwhile there are NO salespeople on the floor. I was like really, if I wanted to get him shoes and didn't want people to make sure they fit him correctly, I could have just gotten him shoes at like Wal-Mart.

Finally, as Ryan is pretty much in histerics at this point, a different saleswoman comes out from the back (Hallelejuah!) I have her check his shoes to which she says, "These are way too big on him, what size are these?" I told her 8.5 so she measures him and says, "He is an 8! And why did she give you a wide? He doesn't have a wide foot." She finally goes and gets an 8 medium, and what do you know they fit him really well. And he wasn't trying to rip them off his feet like he was with the other ones.

So all in all, it was frustrating with the bad service at first, but at least the second lady was helpful. We didn't end up finding sandals that we liked or that worked for him, so we are going to shop around a bit and see what other stores have. At least his new shoes have little mesh sides that are more breathable than his last pair of shoes. Oh, and I really like the soles of them, they are super grippy which is great with all the running and climbing he likes to do.

Sorry no pictures of the whole event, but I forgot my camera, and Ryan was having a really hard time with it taking so long anyway. But here is a picture of his new shoes:

nice shoes! i hate bad sales people. i have always had a good time with the help at stride rite. sydney has narrow feet and we ended up speding 65 on her last pair of sneeks, but they fit!

Nessa has sweaty feet too. I highly reccomend sandles that are not leather. They end up stinking so bad. The tiva type crock type seem to work best for stinky feet. Sydneys don't stink as much and wears the leather ones. Shoes are so important. When you're a busy little kid, the last thing you want to think about is y our shoes rubbing or falling off.
