Night off

Today after a long week of babysitting every day, being mom and housekeeper, and doing maps until midnight every night, I was glad to say to myself, I am taking the night off!

Eddie came and got the kids early this afternoon and they headed to the fish market, so I got out earlier and decided I was going to pick up Sean and we were just going to go out. We love Home Depot, and haven't been there in a while, so we went there first because we are looking to replace a section of the fence out back before Ryan's birthday party next weekend. Ryan was very well behaved there, and walked around and listened to Mommy and Daddy very well when we told him to stay with us.

Then we hit up Target to look at their bikes because Sean and I need new ones, since we got the bike trailer for Ryan's birthday and, well, it's kinda hard to use without bikes :P But the bikes there were just, blah. But Ryan got some Vanilla Milk and a cookie, and he was great there too. Even got him a new pair of shoes! Some black converse! SO ADORABLE! I will take pictures this weekend and post them. They are just way too cute not to show off :)

Finally, we went to Wal-Mart next since it was across the street, to look at their bikes. We found two that we really like, but it is something we will have to save up towards. But I am happy that we found some we liked, finally :)

While we were in the toy section, I went to look at some Lego's because it is Nico's birthday next week. I told Sean where I was going, and Ryan was with him so I was like, awesome I can actually look, and take my time because Sean will be watching Ryan.

So I was standing there, trying to figure out what sets Nico didn't already have, when Sean came around the corner. "Melis, is Ryan with you?" My heart raced. "Noooo...." I replied. Obviously, if he wasn't with me, and Sean was asking, he wasn't with him either. "Holy crap!" I thought, he is gone!

We both ran down the aisles looking and looking and we couldn't find him. I started to panic, thinking "Oh my god, someone stole him, and they ran. Someone could get really far away and no one would even know." I saw a store clerk and I asked her if she had seen my son, and she said no and asked how old he was, and I said 2.

She got up to help me look when I finally saw Ryan at the opposite end of the aisle from me, holding a toy sword, with a woman kind of guiding him over to Sean. Luckily, she had just seen Ryan with Sean so she knew where abouts to take him to. Apparently he was down checking out the electronics. (Just like his father.)

That was one of THE most scariest moments ever though. I didn't know if I should be glad, sad, or mad. I was so relieved to have him back. It was kind of funny, when she gave him back to Sean, Ryan had this look on his face, like "Don't touch me, lady."

Now I don't know, maybe I will get a leash for him. I was never fond of those things, but Ryan doesn't like to sit in the carts, and apparently he is damn fast at escaping. Now I feel like I have won the worst mother in the world award for almost losing my child. Thank GOD I got him back. Oh, it was so scary...

Sure glad you got Ryan back! That has happened to me before, I know how your heart stops! It is nice that you let him walk though. Too many kids are "trapped" in the cart all the time with so much to explore and learn from!
Can't Sean make some sort of tracking system for him?
