Today I went in to visit the preschool that I am interested in sending Ryan. They are called Cornerstone School, and it's a well known Montessori school in the area. They are the only one locally that does schooling of the Montessori method from 18 months - 14 years old. Here is their website:

I met with one of the heads of the school, Rob, who was very kind and explained what they stand for, what their beliefs are, and how the school came to be formed. Then I got a tour of every classroom and even got to sit in a primary classroom in the Children's House (where Ryan would be for next fall) to see how they ran a typical day.
It was a great opportunity and I was just in love with the school. It is so warm and inviting, the students all seem happy and it was everything that I was looking for in a school for him.
The commute isn't too bad, it is about a half hour away. Rob actually said he lived in Berwick, right around the corner from us and was able to give me an alternative route for when I might bring Ryan next fall to help avoid school traffic on 236.
They were all kind there, and knew that my son was named Ryan, so always refered to him as Ryan, never once had to ask (They asked me his info when I called and made the appointment).
At the end of the tour I was able to sit down with Rob and ask him some questions that he was glad to answer. He said Ryan doesn't need to be 100% potty trained yet, but needs to at least be in the learning process. I also had concerns about if Ryan were to go, if he would be overwhelmed being around so many children as he is not used to it. Apparently they do a orientation for the first couple of days with only the new students before they have the entire class together. The largest preschool class of 3-6 year olds is 14, and they have 3 separate classrooms because there is such a large demand for that age group.
Now all I have to do is officially apply, and then wait until March to hear whether or not he gets accepted. I still can't believe that I am looking into preschool for him already! They grow so fast!!
